Elegant Designs to Wear and DisplaY
Judi Magier creates exuberant artworks and multi-colored fabrics, using vibrant colors, intricate patterns and geometric shapes that draw on art forms from around the world. She draws inspiration from travel, fashion, artifacts, and handmade textiles.
For Judi, the process is as important as the project itself. She begins each project in the form of a collage. Colored pieces of paper, gathered from photographs, magazines and many other sources from her archives, are meticulously cut into small pieces and assembled on canvas to create a unique work of art. The completed collage is then photographed and digitally altered to create multiple variations and interpretations.
Finally, the piece is transformed into giclee prints and scarves making them accessible to all who have a love for fine art.
Judi was trained as a fashion and textile designer at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Ryerson University in Toronto, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
